Johann Philipp Krieger

Minuett
This small minuett was originally composed for keys. It consists of just two simple and independent voices and therefore can be easily played on guitar as well. Johann Philipp Krieger was a German baroque composer who lived from 1649 to 1725, hence about 1-2 generations before Bach.

Kol Dodi

A well known folk song from Israel. It is very easy to play, as it just consists of the simple melodie of this song in A Minor that is acompanied by a bordun bass (empty a-string).

Abel, Carl Friedrich

Sonata k.157 - 1st movement

I arranged the first movement of this beautiful sonata for 2 guitars. The first guitarist, playing the major melodie, should be able to execute bindings and trills which also could be ignored. This edition doesn't contain any fingerings.
The download consists of a zip-file in which you will find the score as well as 2 seperate parts.

Milan, Luis de

Pavane 6
This pavan is edited in a way, that the first guitar (part 1) demands only for easy melody playing. Therefore this arrangement is suitable to be played as a guitar duo of student and teacher. The sheet music (pdf) this time is a zipped file, as it contains the score as well as 2 separate parts.

Michael Bierschenk : Bumblebee Blues
A recently composed blues, already successfully tested with different beginners of the guitar (as well as of the blues)
It's a typical 16 bar blues for students in the initial phase of playing with fretted bass notes. A common problem here is the ability to bend and move the pinky in a controlled way, while the ring finger is fixed on a bass string.
Again a mp3 file (~250 kb) instead of a midi file.

Dionisio Aguado: Study no.2 in A minor (from: Methodo de guitarra I)
Although this piece already exists on different places on the net I decided to integrate it into this archive. Here you find the complete version that consists of a theme (tree voices) and a variation of it. Variation means in this case, that the chords of the theme are broken up into arpeggios of the original chords.

Needed instrumental skills range at basic level and the acoustic example this time comes as mp3 file (230 kb). I changed the fingerings a bit compared to what you probably would expect. You are invited to use it as an inspiration to think about different fingering possibilities with different advantages and disadvantages.

Grazioso C-Dur (op.147, no.06)
This Grazioso is the no. 06 of "La Tersicore del nord" (op.147), a collection of dance music pieces of Giuliani. It's not too hard to play. By the way: "Tersicore" is the name of the Greece God of the dance.

New for Christmas:
Joseph Küffner: Arietta in A major
This piece is very suitable to introduce students in the technique of playing melodies in thirds. The given fingerings show, how to use single fingers gliding on the strings to support the shifts.

Ferrer, José - Op.04 - Quatro Piezas Progresivas - No.01: Waltz.
Ferrers opus 4 consists of four seperate pieces (Waltz, Minuet, Andante and Allegretto). I chose the waltz (no.1) for this weeks edition. Who would like to play this piece should be familiar with the technics of left hand bindings and be able to use bars.

This weeks edition is the well known 'Fantasia in D minor' composed by Silvius Leopold Weiss . It is a piece for quite advanced players. I provided no fingerings at all, as I know that guitarists who are able to play this composition will develop their own fingerings anyway.

2 renaissance pieces:
The famous tune Greensleeves and the pavan: "Belle qui tiens ma vie" from Thoinot Arbeau (1588), both in one edition. The pieces are prepared to be played by three guitars and may be played even by beginners. Only the first guitarist has to move to the third position once. As this edition contains the score as well as the three parts it is packed in a zip file.

Today the beautiful Catalonian Folksong: El Testament D'Amelia found it's way into this Download Archive. This song is known and loved all over the world, because a lot of guitarists have it in their concert repertoire. I arranged this song in a way that tries to keep it's charm although it comes along in mainly two voices only. Students who manage to play pieces with two voices using empty bass strings should not face big problems with this one too.

Today I uploaded a collection of 18 German Christmas Songs arranged for guitar solo. This is the 2. edition to be downloaded after paying a fee following the Vivaldi Sonata for alto/treble recorder and continuo (guitar). I'm not sure if anybody outside the German speaking countries is interested in this edition but at least I wanted to offer it in this English section of the Guitar Scores - Download - Archive as well. In case you should be interested: Here's the link to the info page of this download.
